As'ad Al-Hamad Dermatology Center (Al-Sabah Hospital)

As’ad Al-Hamad Dermatology Center is a main governmental dermatology center in Kuwait. The old department known as the Department of Dermatology; Al-Sabah Hospital has moved to the new center that was officially opened on September 30th, 1996.

The center offers skin care services through outpatient clinics in the catchments area of Sabah Medical section, and offers specialized health services, whether diagnostic or therapeutic, to all patients in Kuwait wherever these specialized services are not available. The center hosts general and specialized clinics. General clinics include 21 clinics running on a daily basis and patients are seen on a referral basis at prefixed appointments from our catchment areas. 

Multiple subspeciality clinics exist, and the first one established was the pediatric dermatology unit. Pediatric Dermatology Unit in Kuwait was started in July 1992. It includes General Pediatric Dermatology Clinics, Sick-kids Clinic, and Genodermatoses Clinic. Other subspecialty clinics include Psoriasis Clinic, Autoimmune Bullous Diseases Clinic, Alopecia Areata Clinic, Contact Dermatitis Clinic, Hair Disorder Clinic, Hidradenitis Suppurativa Clinic, Cutaneous Lymphoma Clinic, Atopic Dermatitis Clinic, Urticaria Clinic. 

In addition to clinics, residents are exposed to a myriad of different departments that provide a unique teaching experience. These departments include the Dermatological Surgery Department, Laser Department, Phototherapy Department, as well as the Dermatopathology Department.

The head of department and site coordinator is the president of Kuwait Society of Dermatologists, Chairman of the dermatology Council in Kuwait, and one of the most prominent dermatologists on a national and international level; Dr. Atlal Al-Lafi, and the other site coordinator is a specialist with the American and Canadian board certifications, as well two American fellowships in complex medical dermatology, LASER, and aesthetic dermatology, Dr. Ali AlAjmi.
